Here is call for people to gather for the purpose “of recalling to the mind and impressing upon the heart of the people the great “self-evident truths, that all men are created equal”…another comment on the Anniversary, includes reference to the “four million of slaves yet to be emancipated”, and to “the most awful civil war that the world has ever seen … “Is it a day for boasting and revelry, or for sackcloth and ashes?”
